The External Listening Process suggested by our consultant suggests that we organize two forums entitled Community Engagement Panels to connect more substantively with our community. The purpose is to listen to constituencies in both high places and “on the ground” and to give them the opportunity to express needs, perspectives and hopes that are true to their frame of reference.
Our organizing committee has chosen to offer the forums for our congregation and our community on Thursday, May 18 and Tuesday, May 23 at 7:30pm in our sanctuary.  County and Town officials, religious leaders, experts in education, affordable housing, immigration, and SBU university personnel have been invited to be panelists. Each panel will be composed of three or four panelists. At the end of their presentations, there will be time for questions from the congregation and the community. As the panelist lists are confirmed, we will keep you informed.
The information gathered through this listening process is valuable to the work our consultant is doing with us. Often there is an immediate intersection with the clarification of our congregation’s vision and ministry within our church and beyond our walls.  Please join us in this discernment process. All are welcome
