Can  God spread a table in the wilderness?— Psalm 78:19

On World Communion Sunday, October 2, 2016, our church is taking part in the PCUSA Peace and Global Witness Offering. Faced with violence and injustice in our country and around the globe, it helps to hear stories of the ways God spreads a table of peace where the world offers violence and division.

The Offering supports conferences on peace and justice issues, development of educational resources, International Peacemakers’ partnerships, and peace projects in our churches, presbyteries, and synods. 25% of our Offering is used for local projects.  Another 25% is used by presbyteries and synods, and 50% by the General Assembly Presbyterian Peacemaking Program.

This year, the Peace and Justice Committee voted to give our 25% to support the citizen coalition working with the LI Bus Riders Union to prevent Suffolk County from cutting bus routes. Many lower income people on Long Island are completely dependent on bus routes connected to their job locations and the income they need to support their families. Thank you for your generosity and prayers.  Envelopes are available in the pews.

Checks should be made out to Setauket Presbyterian Church with “Peace and Global Witness Offering” on the memo line. Thank you for your support and prayers.
